An event is a logistics problem wearing a nice outfit. The photographs suggest it is about flowers and colour schemes; it is about timings, access, power and how many people can actually get a drink in twenty minutes. I write about the parts nobody photographs — the turnaround between ceremony and dinner, the licence end that cannot move, the caterer who needs three metres you did not budget for. Nine hundred weddings taught me that the ones that felt effortless were the ones planned hardest.
